45 Years of Wedded Bliss

45 Years of Marriage
45 Years

Looking at the picture to the right, you will see us on our wedding day. There we were in my borrowed dress and his rented tux. We look so young. It doesn’t seem possible that we have spent 45 years together. That equals over 2/3 of our lives. But we have, and so much has happened in that period of time.

I borrowed my wedding dress from an aunt who is 2.5 years older than me. There was no money in the budget to include a dress. We married with $2,000 to our names, and that went as a down payment when we purchased a house a few months after getting married. Even though we didn’t have much money, we saved money by eating hot dogs often to help pay for the closing costs on our home purchase. We survived some tough financial times, and now we are in retirement with enough money to last us the rest of our lives, as long as we live like we have all of our married life, frugally.

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother's Day
My mother in 2020 reading to
our oldest granddaughter.

Saying Happy Mother’s Day and I love you to my mom has always been a part of every year of my life. For over thirty years I have been on the other end, receiving those greeting from my own children. Even my grandchildren will wish me a Happy Mother’s Day on occassion.

As Mother’s Day is fast approaching, I would love to call my mom and tell her how cute her 22nd great-grandchild, my 5th grandchild, is becoming. I would tell her how well our garden is doing and ask her how hers is doing. Or can she come by and see the new cabinets we had installed last week. There is so much I want to tell her. Regardless of what day it is, even though it’s not Mother’s Day yet.

And I would be calling and texting her and including her in our future plans with our children and grandchildren.

A New Grandchild – Baby Love

Baby Love

There is something about a new grandchild that is so amazing, that we feel like we can never feel that in-love with a child again. At least until the next one is born. It’s baby love.

We recently were able to travel to see our latest grandchild. She is our fifth. Our first two were boys and now it’s been three girls in a row. We had seen pictures of her and had known she was a girl months before her birth. However, holding a child for the first time far exceeds seeing pictures. I believe that is when your love for that baby really sinks in.

My Dream for Children

My Dream for Children

My dream for children comes from being a grandma whose children had a much safer life than my grandchildren face today. It is a way for me to promote awareness of what children today can be subject to in their lifetimes. Also, it is my opinion that the desire of God would be that our world should place a higher regard on children, from the time they are conceived. For the safety of your children or grandchildren, please read the entire post. Additionally, note that anytime I am referring to a child or children I am referring to both boys and girls.

My dream for children is love, protection, and being taught values and truth. Children should receive a responsible education and learn about life and sex from their parents. In addition, they should never be treated differently because of their skin color. My dream for children is that they are cherished. As grandparents or parents, you are the protectors of those precious children. Unfortunately in today’s world, the task of raising a child is more important than ever. Here are my dreams for children and I hope they are yours, too.
