Christmas Giving

Christmas Giving - wrapped present

Christmas giving is a normal part of most everyone’s Christmas. We generally give gifts to those we love. As you get older, that list might grow longer each year, as new family members are born. And sometimes it goes in the opposite direction when you lose family members or friends.

Who should you give gifts to? It really only matters if they are someone you love or care for. Your family should be part of this group. And possibly your friends. Even a neighbor or stranger would appreciate a gift. It will also depend on the money or time that you have available to give.

My Favorite Childhood Memory

My sisters and I

I hope that you have many favorite childhood memories that bring joy to your life. I’m sincere about this because everyone deserves to have a happy, safe childhood. But, unfortunately, not everyone has a favorite childhood memory. Instead, they have horrific memories that to them were normal life.

I know a girl that grew up with her mother and two sisters. Their father was out of the picture. The sisters had very few memories of seeing him. However, they have many memories of their mom, including when the child support eligibility ran out and their mom kicked them out of the house. Their worth to their mother disappeared with the child support.

Their mom allowed them to use drugs as long as they did it in their house so that they wouldn’t get caught. Then, when their mom worked at night and didn’t have a sitter, she would take the girls along to the bar and leave them in the car, with $5 to go to the liquor store and buy candy. I hope that isn’t anything remotely like your childhood. I hope you have many favorite childhood memories like I do.

Hug Today While You Can

Hug today, while you can

Hugging is one of my favorite things. How about you? Do you love to hug people? There is a multitude of people that you can hug and feel confident that they are happy to return the hug. My suggestion is to give them a hug today, while you can.

Who is hug worthy in your life? Possibly your mom and/or dad. Your children, your spouse. Relatives in general, like aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. An old friend you haven’t seen in a while. How about new friends that you see all the time? Maybe your pastor or priest? Your neighbors may be worthy of a hug, depending on your relationship with them.

10 Ways to Keep Your Book Obsession Inexpensive

Book Obsession Inexpensive

Getting books for free or super inexpensive has become a necessity for me. In my old age, I have become obsessed with books. Seriously obsessed. I have a selection of about six authors whose books I love. I love them so much that I have decided to read every book they have written if I can find them. I’m a bit embarrassed to say I have over 70 books waiting for me to read. However, I spend very little money to get these.

How does a person accumulate such a collection and not spend hundreds of dollars? This is how I do it. Keep in mind that if we are still under stay home orders, some of these options may not be available at this time. Also, note that I am a book reader, not a Kindle reader. I love to have my book in my hand when I read it, and have a bookmark to mark my place. I know, I’m behind the times, but I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. There is enough screen time in my life, without adding a Kindle.
