When the Covid-19 vaccines first came out, I didn’t qualify since I wasn’t a first responder. And I wasn’t old enough. Now, as the age limit has continued to go lower, I still am left behind the happy groups of people that are so proud to go on television and get their vaccination. There is currently a push to reach the people that refuse to have or are not yet ready to have a vaccine. There are even gifts available in some areas, to those who have waited this long to get their vaccine.
Not everything free is worth it.
My intentions
I have intentionally not signed up for a Covid-19 vaccine. I’ve had plenty of opportunities to get a vaccine. In fact, every time I go online to my health insurance company to make an appointment or order a prescription, I am reminded that I can schedule my appointment now. Lucky me.
No matter how many times I’ve been reminded, I continue to ignore the push to get a vaccine. I will not be getting a free donut, french fries, coffee, or anything else, because I have chosen not to participate in the Covid-19 vaccine excitement.
It doesn’t mean that I don’t think Covid-19 is real. And it doesn’t mean I’m not aware of the number of people that have died from it.
A part of my initial reasoning for not partaking in the vaccine excitement was that aborted fetal tissue was used in the process of creating the vaccine. But, I was wrong, and only the J & J vaccine fits that description. The ones that take two shots to be effective were not created by using aborted fetal tissue. And yes, I do realize the aborted fetal tissue was not from a recent abortion. Even if the Pope says, it’s OK. Good for him, but I’m not Catholic, and I disagree with him. I can’t knowingly use tissue from an aborted fetus when I am 100% against abortion, which to me is the killing of a child of God.
We all have rights
I was born in the United States of America, where I have rights afforded to me by the Constitution. My freedom allows me to say “no” to the vaccine. And I have the HIPAA law on my side. Plus, I cannot be required to get the vaccine, and I cannot be required to let people know if I have had the vaccine. It’s my own personal business.
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 was established for several reasons. This is a privacy law that also gives you the right to see your personal health care information. And it keeps unauthorized people from seeing your health information. This is important for people, in particular, who have a health issue and need to change health insurance. In the past, a company might turn you down because of your health history. Now, unless you give your signed permission, your employer, other health insurance companies, and even your family cannot see your health information.
HIPAA does allow doctors that are treating you or performing surgery on you to have access. That is important, especially if you are in a serious accident and need care but are unable to answer any questions or give permission to see your medical history.
Fully tested?
All three Covid-19 vaccines that are available in the United States have received emergency approval for use. Which, in my understanding, means they would have tested it further if this was not a rush to save lives. It is possible that had they had another year to decide, things may have gone differently, but then again, maybe, in the end, it will prove that they were correct, to begin with. The vaccines have not been approved or licensed by the Food and Drug Administration. Once it is deemed the pandemic is over, they should revoke this emergency authorization.
Are you aware that most medical experts agree that if you have had Covid-19, you do not need the vaccine? The public doesn’t seem to be reminded of this. The push to vaccine everyone should include this reminder, in my opinion.
Also, think about this: Is it more important to get kids vaccinated, who have a scarce chance of getting Covid-19, or would it be better for our extra doses to be sent to India, where their supply is extremely minimal? I realize the U.S.A. is sending some help to India, but they could do more.
God is on my side
I cannot be reckless with my health and say I don’t need to care about prevention because God is on my side. Following my doctor’s orders, I do take prescriptions to remain healthy. And when required, I have had surgery. However, I know that God has a plan for my life. He might plan on me dying next week or maybe on my 85th birthday. I don’t know these answers, but He does. So it’s my responsibility to take care of the body He has given me. It is my responsibility to make wise decisions. At this time, I feel that for me, it is wise not to have the vaccine. I am not saying that if you are a Christian, you cannot have the vaccine. Every life is different, and I have no say over yours.
Make your choice
Most likely, half of the people reading this will have already received their Covid-19 vaccine. Some of you will feel like you are very fortunate to have the availability of the vaccine. Others will have had the vaccine because they felt pressure to get it. That pressure may have come from the government, the medical “experts,” or family members. I hope that you didn’t give in to pressure because a celebrity was pushing for everyone to get the vaccine. I don’t think we should be taking advice from celebrities who live in their own world and are not health experts. Whatever your reason, it was your unique choice and you have the right to make it.
It’s not for me to convince you not to get the vaccine. Nor, is it for me to hold it against you that you have had the vaccine. If you are a mentally stable adult, you should be able to make that decision for yourself without anyone putting pressure on you to change your mind either way. Feel free to comment on this post below. I do not expect you to tell me where you side on this since that is your prerogative. I only hope that you feel comfortable with the decision you have made. And I hope you stay healthy!
