My 2023 Goals List – December Update

Goals

Here is my December monthly update:

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress:Failure I’ve walked 836,4 miles for the year. That leaves 163.60 unfinished. So, I’m preparing myself for next year, when I try again. I’m determined to achieve this goal in my lifetime, as long as my health allows it. This year, my health didn’t cooperate.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: Complete. My church started this January 1. I have to admit; it has been very interesting. Even though I’ve read the whole Bible several times in my life, I always seem to discover something new. This was easy to accomplish. I think what made it easier, is I had a plan laid out. Each day I had chapters to read. It was 5 days a week, so I had two days to catch up or go ahead as needed to stay current.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress:Failure. I don’t plan to do this again. I’ve given up. By the end of the year I was up 8 pounds. If I am able to focus on the walking, I may be able to lose the weight.

So, if you have a list, share your progress with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, you succeeded this year.

November Goals Update

2023 November goals update

Here is my November monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 782 miles for the year. That leaves 218 for the next month. I was hopeful last month that I still could achieve this goal. But there is no way I will walk 218 miles for the month of December. But that doesn’t mean I will give up. I want to achieve as many miles as I can. So last month I started walking further. Yesterday I walked to our post office, for the second time. So, I’m preparing myself for next year, when I try again. I’m determined to achieve this goal in my lifetime, as long as my health allows it.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1. I have to admit; it has been very interesting. Even though I’ve read the whole Bible several times in my life, I always seem to discover something new. This should be easy to accomplish. I think what made it easier, is I had a plan laid out. Each day I had chapters to read. It was 5 days a week, so I had two days to catch up or go ahead as needed to stay current.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: Starting over.  In July and August, I was shocked to be gaining weight practically every three days. I thought I had stabilized and hoping to lose weight again soon. At the end of October, I was up 4 pounds from where I started. There is still hope. My health is partly to blame. I had 3 medical appointments in November. Hopefully, they will address that issue and the scale will once again be going down. I’m now on a kidney diet, in response to my concern about my chronic kidney disease. I’m more focused on the foods I eat and how much sodium and potassium I ingest per day, because I need to limit those two items. I’m not currently watching my calories. So, do I have hope I will succeed on this? I feel like I’ve stopped gaining, but I’m not losing. It will be hard. I’m learning to make different choices. I eat more fruits and vegetables and less chocolate. Reducing my chocolate intake has been hard, since I’m a chocoholic.

So, if you have a list, share your progress with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, you succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter?

October 2023 Goals Update

October 2023 Goals Update

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my October monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 711.8 miles for the year. That leaves only 288.2 for the next 2 months. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine and average over 145 miles a month, which obviously I am not doing. I’m going to have to start really pushing it. It could be hopeless but I’m still pressing forward.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1. I have to admit; it has been very interesting. Even though I’ve read the whole Bible several times in my life, I always seem to discover something new.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: Starting over.  In July and August, I was shocked to be gaining weight practically every three days. I thought I had stabilized and hoping to lose weight again soon. At the end of October, I was up 4 pounds from where I started. There is still hope. My health is partly to blame. I have 3 appointments in November. Hopefully, they will address that issue and the scale will once again be going down.

So if you have a list, share it with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, we all succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter? Two months to go in the year. Yikes.

My 2023 Goals September Update

September goals

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my September monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 652.2 miles for the year. That leaves only 347.8 for the next 3 months. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine and average over 120 miles a month, which obviously I am not doing.
At the end of September, I was up 5 pounds from what I weighed at the beginning of the year. One pound over August. Wrong way! I’m trying once again to lose weight.

So if you have a list, share it with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, we all succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter? Three months to go in the year. Yikes.

My 2023 Goals August Update

August Goals Update

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my August monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 515.7 miles for the year. I only lost 63.40 miles in August, which is once again less than I walked the previous month. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine and average over 100 miles a month, which obviously I am not doing. In July and August, I wasn’t feeling the best. I walked less. I ended up having a sleep study and found out in mid-August that I had severe sleep apnea. After almost three weeks of using my CPAP, I’m not as tired. I’m still not feeling 100% but getting better each week. I’ve walked more in the last half of August than I did in the first half.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1. I have to admit; it has been very interesting. Even though I’ve read the whole Bible several times in my life, I always seem to discover something new.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: Starting over.  See the explanation/excuse in item number one. In July and August, I was shocked to be gaining weight practically every three days. I am now stabilized and hoping to lose weight again soon. At the end of August, I was up 4 pounds from what I weighed at the beginning of the year. Wrong way! I’m trying once again to lose weight.

So if you have a list, share it with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, we all succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter? Four months to go in the year. Yikes.

My July 2023 Goals Update

July Goals update

My 2023 Goals List

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my June monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 515.7 miles for the year. Only 71.8 miles in July, which is less than I walked in June. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine and average 96.86 miles a month, which obviously I am not doing. Since I have not been feeling the best in July, I walked less. I had a doctor tell me I was walking too much. I was trying to walk for 45 minutes to an hour daily. But I’ve cut that back a bit, even though I really like walking, especially now that I listen to books as I walk.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1. I have to admit; it has been very interesting. Even though I’ve read the whole Bible several times in my life, I always seem to discover something new.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: Not so good. Well, July was worse than June. I have been eating so much. I am less active and since the beginning of this year; I am up one pound. That’s after losing a pound since I was higher. We have a class reunion coming up next year, so there is more incentive this time around. But I seem to not be taking it as an incentive. Plus, I saw pictures of our recent vacation and I don’t look so good in the photos I’m in.

So if you have a list, share it with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, we all succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter? Five months to go in the year. Yikes.

June Goals update

My 2023 Goals List

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my June monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 443.9 miles for the year. Only 91.5 miles for June which is less than I walked in May. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine. However, we had our first 100+ weather this weekend, which gives me little time to walk, because it’s too hot.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: Not so good. Well, I have a bad June. I walked a lot but I also ate a lot. At this moment, I am only 0.5 down for the year. That’s a long way from 5 pounds. I know I need to work harder on that. If I continue going up and down, I need to be closer to ten pounds to remain 5 pounds down for the year. We have a class reunion coming up next year, so there is more incentive this time around.

So if you have a list, share it with me in the comments below. We can do this together, and hopefully, we all succeed this year. So, really, how did you do last year? And did that change your list for this year–either longer or shorter?

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress. I’ve walked 352.4 miles for the year. That’s 106.10 for May. That’s a good increase. I think I can meet this goal as long as I keep up my walking routine.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: I’m up and down. I am only three pounds down, which is the same as last month.

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope you are better than me. Here is my March monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress, but I’m not 1/4th there. I’ve walked 187.5 miles for the year. My excuse is too much rain. However, there have been a lot of sunny days that I didn’t take advantage of.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: I’m up and down. I am at 5 pounds down, but I know I need to work harder on that. If I continue going up and down, I need to be closer to ten pounds to remain 5 pounds down. These are the same five pounds I didn’t lose last year. We have a class reunion coming up next year, so there is more incentive this time around.

My 2023 Goals List Progress

It’s a different list this year. It’s shorter. I hope it’s more doable if I only focus on three things. I didn’t do so well last year. How did you do? I hope better than me. Here is my February monthly update.

  1. Walk 1000 miles. Progress: I made reasonable progress, but I’m not 1/6 of the way there. I’ve walked 140.8 miles for the year. Moving helped me add on extra miles. Hopefully, it’s warm enough soon and I’m done unpacking and I can start a regular walking routine.
  2. Read the Bible in a year. Progress: I’m up to date. My church started this January 1.
  3. Lose five pounds. Progress: I’m up and down. Currently, I am at 5 pounds down, but I know I need to work harder on that. If I’m going to continue going up and down, I need to be closer to ten pounds down to remain 5 pounds down. These are the same five pounds I didn’t lose last year.
